I thought getting engaged was the most exciting moment of my life. That was until the wedding planning began.
Ever since I was about 16 I have dreamed of planning my own wedding. I have always wanted the typical big white wedding, but when you start planning your own big day you realise that weddings cost…ALOT!
On Saturday, me, my mum and best friend all took a trip to London to visit the National Wedding Show, the UKs biggest wedding show. It is literally the place to be for all of your wedding planning needs, with hundreds of wedding specialists including bridal boutiques, florists, jewellers and wedding venues.
We spoke to so many people, including a photographer we may end up booking which is exciting. And it also has given me some great ideas for a colour theme for our day.
We also came across a really cool company called Mr. Bowmans. They are an entertainment hire service based in Essex and offer things like DJ packages, photo booths, sweet carts and, much to my excitement, donut walls! I have taken their details as I am really interested to see what they could offer us in terms of a package for our big day.
We entered almost every competition they had available, including winning our entire wedding and winning a wedding dress of my choice worth £1500 (I’ve got my fingers crossed especially for this one). I’m glad I had my best friend (also maid of honour) and mum with me because I found everything so overwhelming and it gave me a real taste of what wedding planning was all about. My mum helped ask all the right questions when talking to photographers and cake makers, and my best friend made sure to pick up every single flyer, business card and freebie available to us. It was a really fun day, and I have come away with a better insight of what sort of day I want me and Adam to have and how I would like it to look for us.
